Professor Khan is a Tenured Professor of Law at NSU Shepard Broad College of Law in Fort Lauderdale FL and brings his knowledge and expertise to support the prestigious Law Offices of Jibrael S. Hindi, PLLC. He is especially thrilled to join the Law Offices of Jibrael S. Hindi because of their unwavering commitment and dedication to consumer rights practice. Professor Khan will oversee legal research and write legal documents including pleadings, motions, and briefs. He is a prolific legal researcher and writer. He teaches among other courses; Legal Drafting, Legal Research and Writing, Criminal Law, Death Penalty Workshop, Advanced Federal Crimes, Negotiable Instruments, Sentencing Workshop, and Immigration Law.
Professor Khan is a native of Guyana, South America. He migrated to the United States in 1995 to pursue his legal career. South Florida has been his home for the past 30 years. He graduated summa cum laude from Florida International University in 1999, earning a B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology with a perfect 4.0 GPA. He graduated third in his law school class at NSU Shepard Broad College of Law in 2003, summa cum laude. Professor Khan served as Editor in Chief of the International Citator and Research Guide at NSU College of Law, was named Law Student of the Year (2003), and also won Best Team and Best Brief at the BLSA Southern Region Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition in 2002-2003.
As a member of the Florida Bar, Professor Khan has practiced as a litigation attorney with the law firm of Ruden, McClosky, Smith, Schuster & Russell, P.A. (Fort Lauderdale), primarily in the areas of labor and employment, commercial contract disputes, legal research and writing, legal drafting, construction litigation, and landlord/tenant matters. Professor Khan joined the NSU Law’s Critical Skills Program in June 2005 where he taught Elements of Legal Analysis I & II, some components of Advanced Legal Analysis, American & Caribbean Law Workshop, Individual Research Project Seminar in the Online Master of Science in Health Law program, and Overview of Federal Employment Law, Statutes and Regulations in the Online Master of Science in Employment Law program. Professor Khan was very instrumental in creating a bar preparation program at NSU Law. Professor Khan then joined NSU Law's Faculty in June 2011.
Professor Khan also served as the Associate Advisor of NSU Law’s Moot Court Society and also served as a Co-faculty Advisor to the Moot Court Society
Professor Khan served as the Associate Dean of International Programs at NSU Law from July 2017 to September 2023 where he managed and provided expertise, coordination, and support for programs involving NSU Law’s efforts to promote and sustain a global educational community, including the expansion of the International Consortium for Global Legal Education, growth of foreign lawyer enrollment, dual degree programs and student exchange partnerships, study abroad consortia, and collaboration with international bar organizations and associations.
Professor Khan was named NSU College of Law Professor of the Year in 2022. He has done numerous presentations in the U.S. and abroad and has several publications in Law Reviews and done several media appearances and interviews. He is well regarded by his students and the legal community. He is admitted to practice law in Florida. He is also admitted to practice law in the Southern District of Florida, and the Middle District of Florida.
